Tommek

Tommek is a Luxembourgish rapper who has been pushing the creative boundaries of Luxembourg since 2015. His mother immigrated to Luxembourg in the 1990s, while his father comes from a modest farming family in the north of the country. His story therefore moves between different social realities.

His new project, KULTUR KURWA, marks a new chapter: Tommek is no longer searching, he has found what he needs. For the first time, he opens up in detail about his youth and private life, addressing poverty and social pressure in Luxembourg, struggle and luxury, mental health, marriage and fatherhood. “There are people here who work their asses off just to have a little money.” This line captures the reality of working people in Luxembourg, people who have had to work hard to build financial stability for themselves without losing who they are in the process. At its core, the project is about resilience, ambition, and the question of what truly matters in the end.

Alongside music, Tommek has developed another project in recent years: the podcast D’Freidesdrénker. Together with co-host Manuel, he shares his passion for wine and gastronomy. Through conversations with their guests, they also explore stories from everyday life. Tommek’s journey has always been DIY. For his 2015 debut album, he organised two of his own release parties, one in the north of Luxembourg and one at Rocas. With Tok Tok Tommek, he brought a live band to the Rotondes, while WAT RAP in 2020 marked an important new chapter, both sonically and thematically. His journey also includes performances at Food For Your Senses, legendary shows at Funky Donkey Festival, both solo and with STAYFOU, as well as a performance at Rock-A-Field. Across two albums, one EP and numerous singles, Tommek has continuously developed his sound and artistic identity.
